An unusual start time for the Sharks
The San Jose Sharks return to the ice for their sixth game of the season as they host the Boston Bruins. For the first time since I began following the Sharks, the game will start at the unusual time of 5 a.m. in Italy.
After winning their first two games of the season, San Jose alternated wins and losses over its next three contests. The Sharks lost to Dallas and Edmonton, with a road victory over the St. Louis Blues sandwiched between those two defeats.
A win over Boston would give the Sharks victories in three of their first four home games of a season for the first time since 2021-22.
San Jose has turned the tide against Boston
The Sharks and Bruins will meet for the 52nd time in NHL regular-season history. Boston leads the all-time series with 31 wins to San Jose’s 15, while the teams have also played to five ties.
However, after losing 14 consecutive regular-season games against Boston, the Sharks have won each of the past three meetings.
San Jose has also ended a six-game home losing streak against the Bruins, winning the two most recent meetings at SAP Center by identical 3-1 scores.
Cagnoni, Misa and Orlov’s Boston connection
Luca Cagnoni has recorded three assists in his young NHL career. His first came against the Boston Bruins on March 22, 2025.
Michael Misa’s most recent multi-point performance came against Boston on March 12. The Sharks center recorded a goal and an assist in San Jose’s 4-2 victory.
Dmitry Orlov is the only player on the current Sharks roster who has previously played for the Bruins. After spending more than a decade with the Washington Capitals, the Russian defenseman was traded to Boston during the 2022-23 season and played the remainder of that campaign with the Bruins.
