ENGLISH VERSION

The San Jose Sharks ended their season series against the Boston Bruins by being swept, suffering two high-scoring losses that unfolded in very different ways. After a lackluster effort in the first meeting, the Sharks battled hard in the second and were left with the feeling that it was a game they could have won.

Teams Remain Even Through Two Periods

The game got off to a difficult start for San Jose. Just over three minutes into the opening period, Casey Mittelstadt gave the home team a 1-0 lead. Less than three minutes later, Michael Misa tied the game with a power-play goal off assists from Tyler Toffoli and Jacob Trouba.
The remainder of the first period passed without any further scoring. The same pattern continued early in the second until Marat Khusnutdinov restored Boston’s lead at the 8:20 mark.
Just over five minutes later, San Jose tied the game while shorthanded. Kiefer Sherwood intercepted the puck and beat the Boston goaltender with a quick, accurate shot. The second period also ended with the teams tied, this time at 2-2.

Four Goals in Four Minutes Decide the Game

The Sharks continued to battle and took their first lead of the night early in the third period. Dmitry Orlov scored on the power play with a booming shot from the blue line, assisted by Ivar Stenberg and Mason Marchment.
The game then opened up, with four goals scored between the 8:27 and 12:27 marks. David Pastrnak and James Hagens struck just 40 seconds apart, quickly turning a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 Boston lead. Fraser Minten later scored on the power play to extend the Bruins’ advantage to two goals, but the Sharks answered only 27 seconds later. Will Smith finished off a well-executed team play, assisted by Jacob Trouba and Macklin Celebrini, to cut the deficit to 5-4.
San Jose pulled its goaltender for an extra attacker during the final two minutes in search of the tying goal. However, Will Borgen sealed Boston’s 6-4 victory with an empty-net goal with 28 seconds remaining.
With their six-game road trip now complete, the Sharks will return to SAP Center for four home games in seven days against the Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators and Calgary Flames.
