Two-Goal Comeback Gives the Sharks Their Seventh Win

The San Jose Sharks rallied to defeat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2, earning their seventh win of the season and improving to 15 points in the standings.

It is the Sharks’ best 14-game start since the 2021-22 season, when San Jose also recorded 15 points over the same span.

Vancouver Leads After Two Periods

The Sharks were held scoreless through the first two periods, while the visitors built a two-goal lead.

Vancouver opened the scoring in the first period when Drew O’Connor netted his second goal of the season.

The Canucks doubled their lead in the middle frame on a goal by Liam Ohgren, while San Jose struggled to find a way through Vancouver’s defense.

Trailing by two, the Sharks came out with more energy and determination in the third period as they looked to end a three-game home losing streak.

San Jose finally got on the board at the eight-minute mark. Will Smith scored on the power play, beating Leevi Merilainen with a hard, accurate shot from distance. Dmitry Orlov and Mason Marchment picked up the assists.

Three Third-Period Goals Complete the Comeback

The Sharks continued to apply pressure and tied the game at 10:39 when Smith scored his second goal of the night, assisted by Macklin Celebrini and Michael Kesselring.

Just 11 seconds later, San Jose took the lead. Kiefer Sherwood carried the puck into the offensive zone and set up Marchment, who beat Merilainen to make it 3-2. Nolan Allan also picked up an assist, his first as a Shark.

Vancouver pulled its goalie for an extra attacker late in the game and, following a San Jose penalty, had a six-on-four advantage. The Sharks held on until the final horn, completing the comeback and securing both points.

The San Jose Sharks will return to action Saturday when they host the Ottawa Senators at SAP Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT and 9 p.m. in Italy.
