Sharks blown out in California rivalry

The San Jose Sharks suffer another loss, falling 7-2 to their longtime rivals, the Los Angeles Kings. It was a lopsided result for Ryan Warsofsky’s team, as Celebrini and his teammates never found a way back into the game.
The Sharks faced an uphill battle almost immediately. Just 1:23 after the opening faceoff, Adrian Kempe gave the Kings the lead with assists from Artemi Panarin and Drew Doughty.
Los Angeles added two more goals later in the opening period. Kempe scored his second of the night before Quinton Byfield made it 3-0 on the power play.

Celebrini and Stenberg provide two power-play sparks

San Jose showed its first sign of life six minutes into the second period. Macklin Celebrini scored the Sharks’ first goal of the night on the power play, assisted by Dmitry Orlov and Michael Misa.
The home team responded with two more goals in the second half of the period. Erik Haula scored first before Kempe completed his hat trick.
The third period began just as the first had, with another Kings goal. Three minutes into the period, Joel Armia made it 6-1 off an assist from Haula.
The Sharks produced their second spark midway through the period, once again on the power play. Rookie Ivar Stenberg scored San Jose’s second goal, with Orlov and Misa collecting the assists again.

Byfield completes the rout

The scoring came to an end at 14:28, when Byfield netted his second goal of the night on the power play to give Los Angeles a 7-2 lead.
