Il gol è arrivato dopo che in una azione di contropiede di 2-0, il portiere degli Sharks Alex Nedeljkovic è riuscito a bloccare il disco che si è fermato praticamente sulla linea di porta, ma John Klingberg nel tentativo di liberare l’area, ha preso contro il gambale del proprio portiere, non riuscendo così a toccare il puck. Più lesto di tutti è stato Stutzle che ha insaccato a porta vuota. Inutili gli attacchi finali degli Sharks per cercare di pareggiare il punteggio. San Jose si ripotrà rifarsi già domani notte contro i Boston Bruins.
