Non c’è mai stata storia nella gara di stanotte tra San Jose Sharks e Washington Capitals. La prima frazione finisce con i Capitals avanti 4-0. Prima rete dopo nove minuti con “The Great 8″ Ovechkin, seguito dal raddoppio di Sonny Milano, il tris è servito dal rookie Ryan Leonard, mentre il quarto goal viene realizzato da Brandon Duhaime.
La seconda frazione vede sempre Washington sugli scudi, sempre Ovechkin trova la quinta rete per i Capitals in situazione di superiorità numerica. A 26” dalla sirena di fine secondo periodo arriva la sesta marcatura degli ospiti a firma di Dylan Strome.

L’unico sussulto degli Sharks arriva al minuto 13, quando in situazione di power play arriva il goal della bandiera. Rete segnata da Pavol Regenda in deviazione su tiro dalla blu di Dmitry Orlov. Per Regenda si tratta del secondo goal in due partite.
